The popular Bluewater International Granfondo continues to exceed participant expectations as a professionally run, ultra-scenic, fun event. That’s why enthusiastic B.I.G. riders have raised $350,000 for Palliative Care Education within Sarnia-Lambton. For 2023, the event will host the Ontario First Responders Road Cycling Championships.

Starting beachfront at Mike Weir Park in Sarnia, the Granfondo includes four distances. Grove Route is a family-friendly 30 kilometres that encourages kids as young as 10 years old with their own event jersey, swag bag and finisher medal.

There’s the flat and scenic Sarnia 50K, and the Lambton 100K on quiet country roads with three short climbs, both featuring timed sections. Mass start anxieties are eliminated because each distance begins separately.

Competitive riders can connect with national and provincial racers, pros and celebrity guests the evening prior to the Granfondo at the Pro Event Dinner, before testing themselves on the four timed sections and 800 metres of climbing on the 150K Bluewater Route.

Timing select segments rather than the complete ride allows participants to regroup and enjoy cycling with friends and teammates between segments, enhancing the fun of the event for everyone.

Voted #1 in Ontario, #2 in Canada and #4 in North America, registration for the Bluewater International Granfondo includes a hot meal and cold beverage with entertainment by a live band — and an optional swim in Lake Huron.
