The River City Gravel Fondo in Campbell River kicks off the season in April with a revised course that will stick to gravel roads north of John Hart Lake and Campbell Lake. The course will be fast and offer the least amount of elevation, but will still challenge the most seasoned gravel rider.
Port Alberni marks our first inaugural West Coast Slugger on May 17, and we’re celebrating with an epic course through what we think is the best gravel riding in the world. We promise incredible water-front views, sweeping turns, a couple of sheer walls to climb up, and enough gravel to shake a stick at.
With Gravel racing becoming more mainstream, we are pleased to host the Canadian Gravel Cycling Championships on June 14 as part of our 8th annual Burnt Bridge Classic in the Cowichan Valley. Known as “The Legend”, the 2026 route will see riders complete the route “backwards” compared to past years due to the new venue located north of Shawnigan Lake. We anticipate over 500 participants taking part especially with the “fun” challenge option for those wanting to ride for the experience versus racing.
After a two month hiatus, we return to the Cowichan Valley in Sept for the Forbidden Gravel event. We’re exploring some very exciting route options that will be a game changer and potentially introduce one of the most gruelling and brutal gravel routes in BC. You won’t want to miss this one.
Across all events, we’re proud to be supported by community partners who help make this series happen: Mosaic Forest Management, We Wai Kai First Nation, 4VI, Tourism Campbell River, CVRD, Tourism Cowichan Valley, Village of Cumberland, UROC, Cycling BC, and Cycling Canada.
We will be announcing some exciting corporate partners in early 2026 which will elevate the BC Gravel Series to a whole new level. (If you want to be a proud sponsor, contact us at info@panachecyclingsports.com)
At the end of the day, it’s about “GRAVEL ADVENTURES / SCENIC WONDERS”
