Final Round 2025 Trek BC Gravel Series Forbidden Gravel in Cumberland Move to Sept. 21 – Volunteers Wanted

release by the Trek BC Gravel Series

September 3, 2025 - After doing another important risk assessment over the past few days, we have decided to reschedule the Forbidden Gravel in Cumberland event to Sunday, Sept 21, 2025.

Due to the worsening fire risk, we have been recently informed by one of the land owners that we are not permitted to have motorized vehicles access certain areas of the course, which are critical to our safety emergency first response and communication plan.

Your safety is our number one priority and we need to be certain that we have a robust safety plan to ensure the well-being of attendees and allow for effective management of any incidents or emergencies that may occur.

We also are mindful that the conditions are getting dryer and the weather forecast remains hot and dry for the remainder of this week. Recently some new fires popped up nearby in Campbell River and we expect the situation to continue to deteriorate until some much needed rainfall arrives, hopefully later this month.

Rest assured that we are doing our utmost to keep the event alive and to also extend the distances for the Intermedio and Esperto so that you are getting more bang for your buck.

We appreciate your understanding on this matter. It has been a challenging summer with record breaking temperatures and lack of rain.

Important Information on Liability Coverage
Not a Cycling BC Member?

All non-Cycling BC members participating in Mass-Participation events must complete this online process to ensure Cycling BC’s online liability waiver is completed. DON’T WORRY, IT’S FREE.

This includes all participants with existing licenses from other provincial/territorial (e.g., Alberta UCI or Recreational license) or foreign national organizations (e.g., USA Domestic or USA UCI Rac license).

By signing the waiver, participants receive access to Cycling BC’s comprehensive liability shield, protecting them from other event participants, etc.

Bring Your Number Plate!
If you participated in our first event, the River City Gravel Fondo in April, please bring your number plate with you to the other events. Make sure you don’t fold it as it may affect the timing chip that is attached on the back. If you lost or forgot your number, you will need to get a new one for $10.
