Evenepoel Wins Historic 4th ITT Title as Reusser Defends Women’s Elite ITT Crown at Montreal 2026

September 20, 2026 - Belgium’s Remco Evenepoel claimed a historic fourth consecutive Elite Men’s Individual Time Trial victory on the opening day of the UCI Road World Championships in Montreal.

His sensational ride, that led to him becoming the first to win four consecutive ITT Worlds titles, was almost a minute faster than Ganna Filippo of Italy who won the silver followed by France’s Paul Seixas in third, taking the final podium spot.

The top Canadian was Michael Leonard just outside of the top-10 in 13th overall. Fellow Canuck, Nickolas Zukowsky, finished in 31st.

In the Elite Women’s Individual Time Trial defending champ, Marlen Reusser of Switzerland, successfully re-claimed her title over Great Britain’s Zoe Backstedt in second, while Germany’s Franziska Koch took home the bronze with the third fastest time. Today was also Reusser’s 35th birthday.

The top Canadian was Nadia Gontova, who made it into the top 20, crossing the line in 19th. Her compatriot Olivia Baril placed 23rd.
