May 12, 2022 - (Québec City, Que.) As the Capitale-Nationale region positions itself as THE mountain bike destination in Quebec in recent years, it has just podiumed as the host of major event the Crankworx Summer Series Canada – Quebec City, from September 1 to 5 2022.
Hailing from Whistler, B.C., Crankworx is one of the world’s best known mountain bike events, and via its Canadian summer event lineup, Crankworx Summer Series Canada, this free event is sure to shine the spotlight on Quebec’s trending MTB sites − Empire 47, Mont-Sainte-Anne, Le Massif de Charlevoix, Sentiers du Moulin and Vallée Bras-du-Nord.
“It promises to be a genuine crowd pleaser that’s both festive and really impressive − the perfect opportunity to showcase the vast Quebec City region, its two-wheel community and stunning multi-skill mountain bike infrastructures,” stated Micah Desforges with enthusiasm, the founding president of TRIBU Expérientiel, the agency behind luring the Crankworx Summer Series Canada to the region.
PROGRAM DETAILS The five-day event program has something for everyone, and it is sure to attract many followers. While visitors and road trippers can discover each of the region’s mountain bike centers, it also features a young learners’ program that offers children a chance to surpass themselves at kid-friendly activities. And it makes room for creating new local heroes at the national-level pro races that are open to all. Riders can register for any number of events of their choice subject to obtaining a mountain bike competition license. |
FIVE GATHERING EVENTS: Info and online registration open today! (LIMITED PLACES) Sept. 1st | Empire 47 | Red Bull UCI Pump Track World Championship Qualifier: With an impressive paved infrastructure, Empire 47 is the perfect place to host this event that also serves as a qualifier for Eastern Canada’s Red Bull UCI Pump Track World Championship. Men and women winners will win an all-expenses paid trip to compete at this world championship in Chile. Sept. 2nd | Sentiers du Moulin | Slopestyle: This freeride discipline takes place on a jumps and berms course designed for riders to perform jaw-dropping stylized aerial figures (bronze event on the FMB World Tour circuit). Sept. 3rd | Vallée Bras-du-Nord | Air downhill: The course of jumps and fluid turns is designed so racers can fly spectacular distances in the air. Sept. 4th | Le Massif de Charlevoix | Kidsworx: Children ages 6 to 12 can participate in development clinics with mountain bike professionals. Sept. 5th | Mont-Sainte-Anne | Dual slalom: On dual side-by-side courses, riders perform tight turns and jumps. The last leg of the course consists of flags to be negotiated at high speed, like skiers on a dual slalom course. BEYOND RACES − A FREE FESTIVAL! Much more than just a competitive sports meet, this event also celebrates the mountain bike culture and community in Quebec City and across Quebec. Each center is hosting festivities and races, with prizes for all age groups and technical skill levels. All this to the beat of a daytime DJ! From September 1 to 5, visitors are welcome to visit Sentiers Du Moulin’s Village, the event village rallying together industry partners, food trucks and pop shops.
