July 9, 2025 - A world-class mountain biking destination, the Cowichan Valley is home to amazing trails and fabulous amenities, along with mild, Mediterranean-like climate.

The region offers more than 170 trails that sprawl over 180 kilometres of terrain of varying difficulty featuring a mix of road, gravel, MTB and e-bike trails via five different mountains: Maple Mountain, Cobble Hill, Mount Tzouhalem, Mount Prevost and Fairservice Fun — there’s truly something for everyone.
Maple Mountain is a mountain biker’s paradise while the 122km multi-use Cowichan Valley Trail is a spectacular and integral part of the Trans Canada Trail route that’s perfect for road cyclists, gravel riders, bikepackers, and e-bikers.

Mt. Tzouhalem, known locally as “Mt. Zoo”, is possibly the most popular in the valley, boasting a wide range of trails with signage for mountain bikers from beginners to expert riders.
Somewhat of a legend for descending-only downhill tracks Mount Prevost (Swuq’us) also offers double-black diamond trails and at the base of the mountain there are non-downhill trails as well.

Cowichan also offers plenty of bike-friendly accommodations including convenient camping options for cyclists, and it’s also home to countless cycling events that take place in the spring and summer such as the legendary BC Bike Race, a multi-day mountain bike stage race.
There are plenty of perfect pit stops and post-ride eateries and restaurants as well where you can enjoy wood-fired pizzas and local craft beer along with farm-to-table dining experiences.

Sustainability is key for the many stakeholders involved to ensure access to quality trails for a variety of users.
For fantastic two-wheeled adventures throughout all four seasons, it doesn’t get much better than the Cowichan Valley, known as “The Warm Land” of Canada.
