Women are Behind Huge Increases in Cycling, Running & Walking During Pandemic

Women lead the charge when it comes to the 2020 global fitness boom fueled by cycling during the pandemic, according to Strava, the world’s biggest online fitness platform, reports The Guardian.

Strava tracked over 1.1bn activities uploaded by its 72m users over the past year and reports that the number of uploaded runs and cycle rides nearly doubled compared with the same period in 2019 – while the number of walks recorded tripled year on year.

Women were more active claims Strava’s director of international marketing Simon Klima. The median number of activities uploaded by women to the platform rose by 45% year on year among those aged 18-29 and around 25% in other age categories.
